Lauren Cooney has fifteen years of experience with product management, product marketing and building technical communities/ecosystems, strategies and GTM across many customer audiences (CxO, IT, Partner, Developer) and languages (Java, ASP.NET, PHP, Ruby, more) for large enterprise companies. Cooney joined Cisco Systems in March of 2012 as the Senior Director of Software Market and Developer Strategy, leading the teams that drive new innovations out of Cisco's central networking software group. Her team owns technology and solutions marketing and outbound developer engagement for multiple technologies, programs and efforts across Cisco focused specifically new software initiatives and high impact programs. Prior to Cisco, Cooney was the Director of Developer and Product Marketing at Juniper, leading strategic and community developer efforts as well as Product Marketing for Junos Space Platform, Junos and Space SDKs and applications, APIs and new technologies. She led efforts to launch Juniper's developer community, The Juniper Developer Network (JDN). She also spearheaded the "Programmable Networks" efforts for Juniper as SDN was coming to the forefront of customer radar screens, and led the effort to Open Source the Junos SDK Open Flow implementation from the product marketing and community side. Prior to Juniper, she led the Web Platform and Standards team at Microsoft, focused specifically on driving change in Microsoft's web strategy, including the cohesion of all of MSFT's web products into one simple solution - the Microsoft Web Platform. Her team, along with engineering, brought PHP to IIS and Windows, and drove developer-focused product management, marketing and GTM for ASP.NET, PHP, IIS, MySQL at Microsoft, The Web Platform Installer, Windows Web Application Gallery and several other products. Before Microsoft, Cooney was a Program Director in the Information Management CTO Office at IBM, focusing on strategy, semantic web, API strategy, big data and other emerging web technologies and products. Before IBM, she led developer marketing/relations at BEA Systems. Cooney sat on the Web 2.0 Expo Advisory Board for 2 years, and is an active participant advising CloudNOW, a non-profit focused on women technologists and thought-leaders paving the way in the cloud and services space.
