Live Email Optimization: Get ideas for applying behavioral research to your email campaigns

Gain new test ideas for your email campaigns by watching this replay of the live optimization session from MarketingSherpa Email Summit 2015. In this session, Flint McGlaughlin, Managing Director, MECLABS Institute, along with MECLABS’ research analysts, provided research-based feedback on audience-submitted emails.

[The goal of the session is] to discover together transferable principles – the sort of principles you can take back and apply to your own campaigns.

–  Flint McGlaughlin, Managing Director, MECLABS Institute

This interactive session allowed the audience to apply all the discoveries and insights gained over the course of the Summit in a mass focus group setting to not only help their peers, but put the lessons learned at Email Summit into practice on real emails.

McGlaughlin not only provided his own feedback to provide transferable principles for better serving customers with email marketing, but also took audience suggestions for several emails submitted by attendees. A team of MECLABS’ analysts then worked onstage to recreate the emails based on that feedback in real time.

A few of the lessons you can learn from this video include:

  • Guide customers in their thinking – they shouldn’t have to make meaning for themselves
  • Don’t let the design of the email get in the way of the message
  • Images should support the value proposition
  • The goal of the email is to get a click, not sell the product
  • The first four inches of the email should state/imply ultimate reason to interact with the email

Watch the full video replay to see the live optimization analysis and gain takeaways to test on your own email creatives.
